Ask a Question-
Can you explain how the self-sustaining brake function works on the CS100 winch please?
In order for the self-sustaining brake function to work a minimum of between 7% to 10% of the overall load that the winch can take needs to be applied to webbing strapping, this allows the brake to engage when you take your hand of the winch crank handle (so the load is held in either travel direction). So between 12 to 17kgs of load applied to the webbing allows the self sustaining brake to work. Until the winch system (Winch and Rope) is installed with a load applied the braking function on the CS100 will not work.

Hi. Can you confirm if the CS100PS Worm Gear hand winch 170kg has a lock mechanism or self sustaining brake. We are proposing to use it for a washing line. Thanks
The CS100 has self-sustaining worm gearing, when you stop cranking the winch handle the winch holds the load. The winch has to be working at a minimum of approx. 7 to 10% of the maximum working load for the self-sustainingh braking to operate as mentioned (so between 12 to 17kgs of load applied to the webbing). Until the winch system (Winch, Rope + Pulley if needed) is installed the braking function will not work. In additon the winch does not have a free wheel function.
