They are certified, load-rated components available in metric (M8–M48) and imperial sizes, designed for secure, often permanent, attachment. Key considerations include load capacity, orientation, and aligning the load ring with the pull direction.

Key Safety and Installation Factors

  • Capacity & Marking: Lifting points must have clear identification, including WLL (Working Load Limit), thread size, and manufacturer mark.
  • Angle of Loading: The capacity of lifting points (especially eyebolts) reduces significantly as the angle of loading increases.
  • Orientation: Shouldered eyebolts must be correctly oriented to the line of pull, sometimes requiring shims to ensure they tighten in the correct position.
  • Inspection: Inspect before use, with a comprehensive check by an expert at least once a year. Check for corrosion, cracking, deformation, and thread damage.
  • Permanent vs. Temporary: Weld-on points are generally permanent; bolt-on rings can be used for temporary, heavy-duty applications.
